History of One Name
One Name, a contemporary Christian music band, was formed originally in 1999, by the band's leader, Brian Meade. Before starting One Name, Brian had toured churches in Indiana and Ohio as a solo artist, singing in churches as a guest at Sunday morning services. Another solo artist, Gary Martin, and Brian, met at an event in Lima, Ohio in the fall of 1999. The two began touring and performing as One Name in the winter of 1999. The two performed in over 200 venues between 1999 and 2001. In the summer of 2001, solo artist Tom Didier joined the group and One Name recorded their first CD in 2003 on the Odyssey Nashville label. In a short period of time, their radio single, Come Praise the Lord, reached over 160 Christian radio stations and Today's Christian Music Network. The song rated 92% like or love on The FISH FM Family Rewards listener survey during that time. Mike Becht of Soul2Soul Radio in Brentwood, TN, conducted a radio segment with Brian Meade, and a second with the three members in 2004, discussing the group's music and success. The first major event, was a concert with Scott Krippayne in Fort Wayne, IN in front of an audience of over 1400 attendees. The concert was sponsored by WLAB FM. One Name performed again with Scott in Nashville later that year. The group was invited to sing at The Crystal Cathedral the same year, by Robert Shuller. After touring in Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, California, and Oregon, the group's leader started the Christian Artist Association and began working in artist development with other artists and bands. The group finished it's mission in 2007.
